It is entirely handmade, starting with the cultivation and care of the palm, then cutting it into thin fibers; the fibers are hung in the sun to dry, and once dry, they are placed in caves and cenotes. The purpose of this underground immersion is to provide the necessary humidity to manipulate the fiber.
